But even before the game was decided IKEA - the Swedish furniture giant sent a particularly venomous sting aimed straight at CR7's (now broken) heart.
In a humorous post that appeared on IKEA Israel's Facebook page and included a photo of an upholstered bench, it was written: "Ronaldo, if you're going to sit on a bench, at least make it comfortable."
In any case, this World Cup was not exactly what Ronaldo expected or hoped for, the media often reported friction between him and the coach of the Portuguese national team and in the last two games CR7 watched the first half from the bench and was not included in the starting lineup at all, which according to the reports was not received in a good spirit from his direction, to say the least.
The mocking post went up on IKEA's Facebook page shortly after the start of the Portugal team's match against the Morocco team, when it became clear that again, and for the second game in a row, Ronaldo was not included in the lineup and was left on the bench at the start of the game.
The link in the post leads to the IKEA website, and more specifically, to the category of armchairs, stools and chaise longues in the company's product catalog.
By the way, despite the elaborate graphics that made Ronaldo's name look strictly Scandinavian, IKEA does not have a product named Ronaldo, and the padded bench that appears in the teasing post is actually an ESSEBODA pedestal.
