A young woman suspects nothing bad and looks in her closet.

Then six eyes stare back.

There's a spider in the closet - but it's not an ordinary one.

There are people who are very afraid of certain animals.

Some even develop a phobia, i.e. an anxiety disorder, when they see this animal or think it is nearby.

Then they show the typical symptoms, such as panic attacks, increased heart rate and sweating.

One hears particularly often about so-called arachnophobia, i.e. an excessive fear of spiders.

Spider is spreading in the closet - her kind is on the rise

With a body length of up to two centimeters and a leg span of up to five centimetres, the Nosferatu spider is an impressive sight.

Those affected cannot be in the same room with the animals or even run away.

For Aline Desgranges, too, her find in the closet was like in a horror film: She opens her closet – and is startled: A large spider is sitting on her favorite blouse, which she fixes with three pairs of eyes.

“She sat very calmly on my blouses.

I started screaming out loud because I was so scared," she recalls to

After all, this is no ordinary house spider, but the Nosferatu spider, which has been on the rise for some time.

This is also confirmed by the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU).

This is actually at home in the Mediterranean region, but since it is getting warmer and warmer in our latitudes and the winters are becoming milder, it is also spreading more and more in this country.

It can grow up to five centimeters but is harmless.

The poison of the so-called Zoropsis spinimana is not dangerous for humans.

Their bite is said to be about as painful as a light wasp sting.

Do not catch Nosferatu spider with bare hands

Luckily, the 28-year-old nurse's grandparents live just below Desgranges in the flat.

Her grandfather finally comes to her aid and does everything right.

Because instead of killing her, he catches her.

Sucking them up, on the other hand, is not a good idea.

However, the grandfather does not use his bare hands, otherwise he risks being bitten.

Instead, the pensioner catches the spider with a plastic can and is said to have released it outside afterwards.

However, if you want to prevent a spider visit in the future, the young woman has a home remedy for you: mint or lavender oil.

"I put lavender oil all over my apartment.

I put a diffuser in the bedroom that ran all night and sprayed the scent.” Finally, putting screens on your windows helps.
