The CSU in constituency 111 has nominated its candidate for the state elections: Kochl Mayor Thomas Holz will be running in September 2023.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – The result was more than clear: With a good 97 percent of the votes, Thomas Holz was elected by the CSU as the direct candidate for the 2023 state elections on Thursday evening.

Only two of the 86 delegates from the districts of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and Garmisch-Partenkirchen Süd voted against the 46-year-old, two abstained.

Member of the state parliament Martin Bachhuber calls on the CSU to unite

Previously, member of the state parliament Martin Bachhuber, who had announced in October that he would no longer stand in the election, had called on the delegates to unite in supporting Holz.

As mayor, deputy district administrator and CSU district chairman, he proved “that he can lead and steer”.

Bachhuber attested to Holz' passion and a certain persistence'.

He is someone "who is open to new things, but does not follow every zeitgeist".

A strong vote is important, emphasized Bachhuber, "because a CSU candidate is hunted by everyone.

Therefore: Let's show unity, let's be a team, a team."

Nature conservation and sustainable tourism are on the agenda at Holz

Holz – two children, divorced, “but in safe hands again” – addressed some of the topics that particularly concern him in his application speech.

"But I don't have a finished program by 2028. We want to work that out together." Environmental protection and nature conservation are important to him, said the 46-year-old, who worked as a lawyer before being elected mayor in 2007.

"Our hard-working farmers have created our unique cultural landscape and are maintaining it." Here, a "reasonable cooperation on an equal footing" is needed, said Holz.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Bad Tölz newsletter.

When it comes to tourism, it is about channeling day tourism through effective visitor management.

"We don't want to lock anyone out, but the local population is suffering from the ever-increasing rush of people looking for relaxation." Of course, vacationers are welcome in the region.

"Here, incentives are needed for municipalities and hosts to make investments." It is important that "there is no sell-out of the homeland".

Rather, it is about nature-friendly tourism.

Local public transport: "The picture that Deutsche Bahn delivers is a disaster"

About the subject of Wolfratshauser district clinic (“it must not be up for debate”) and the S-Bahn extension to Geretsried (“it must not be shaken”), Holz came to the topic of rail in general.

"The picture that Deutsche Bahn delivers is a disaster," said Holz.

Of course it is "good and right" that routes are renovated - especially after the train accident in Burgrain.

"But it's frightening that such a large company is so poorly organized." It starts with communicating about construction sites and ends with rail replacement services.

In general, Holz finds the expansion of local public transport “right and important”.

However, rural areas should not be forgotten about the planned introduction of the 49-euro ticket.

“Because what use is an attractive ticket if the bus only runs twice a day.

Thomas Holz: "We have to do everything we can to prevent a traffic light in Bavaria"

Another important point on Holz's list is the Walchensee power plant, for which the permit expires in 2030.

In any case, it must be preserved, said Kochler.

"But part of the added value must also remain in the region." The communities would live with the burdens caused by water drainage, for example.

“There needs to be a balance for that,” said Holz.

Being able to campaign for all communities in the constituency in the state parliament would be “a great challenge and a special honor” for Holz.

In the election campaign, he expects "a hot dance" with a view to the candidates of the other parties.

It is important that the CSU gets a good result.

"Because we have to do everything we can to prevent a traffic light or an even worse situation in Bavaria."

Schwarzenberger is aiming for a third term as district councillor

A clear thing was also the nomination of district day candidate Thomas Schwarzenberger (52).

The mayor of Krün has been on the committee since 2013.

84 of 86 delegates voted for Schwarzenberger, who had been suggested by the district chairman of Garmisch, Michael Rapp.

The Krüner, two children, divorced but in safe hands again, took a quick look at the focal points of his work.

Among other things, he is the speaker for the open-air museum Glentleiten.

Its "development is important for both districts and is very important to me".

This also applies to a similar extent to the Center for Traditional Clothing in Benediktbeuern and the School for Wood and Design in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Schwarzenberger sits on the Culture, Schools and Museums Committee and the District Committee.

"This is the decision-making committee," he explained.

But it is also important for him to have contact with care facilities, facilities for people with disabilities or psychiatric services for which the district is responsible.

It's about "always being available as a contact person".

Especially with a view to the “exploding numbers” in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry, there is a lot to do in the district.

"I haven't shied away from taking responsibility so far," said Krüner.

"And I would like to continue to do that on your behalf."
