Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said today (Saturday) that he plans to run for the presidency for the last time in 2023. "We will pave the way for young people and ask for the nation's support for the last time," Erdogan said in a speech he delivered at an official ceremony in northern Turkey, in the city of Samson.

General elections are to be held in Turkey next year.

A few weeks ago, Erdogan, who heads the AKP, the Turkish Justice and Development Party, which has ruled the country since 2003, announced.

"We have established an infrastructure that even developed countries envy."

Polls published in recent months indicate a drop in the popularity of Erdogan's party, mainly due to rising inflation and a drop in the value of the currency.

The Turkish public criticizes the country's economic management.

In a speech, Erdogan said: "We have established a service infrastructure that even developed countries envy. Today they say that Turkey is a different country. We have shown the strength of our employment system at a time when there is talk of a contraction of the world economy. In relation to the energy crisis, we have seen the strength of our investments. In every crisis We promoted our ability to seize opportunities and rely on our strength."
