The Palestine Red Crescent Society held a celebration this evening on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of its founding, on the stage of the Drama Theater at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus.
The ceremony included an introductory presentation about the beginnings and establishment of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, in addition to a play entitled “A Moment” presented by the “Yael” dance theater group, directed by Iyad Al-Saba’, telling the story of the moment between the injury and martyrdom of a PRCS volunteer, and the injury and death of her husband. Shot dead by the Zionist occupation entity in occupied Palestine, while they were carrying out their humanitarian tasks.
The President of the Palestine Red Crescent Society, Younis Al-Khatib, pointed out in a speech to the importance of holding the ceremony in Damascus, the beating heart of Arabism, at a time when Syria is recovering and rebuilding what was demolished and destroyed by terrorism, considering that Syria is a new starting point for the Society towards Palestine, whose return we hope is free. Jerusalem is its capital.
In a statement to SANA correspondent, the director, the Seven, explained that the show aims to shed light on everything related to occupied Palestine, and all its children, including the wounded, martyr, prisoner, resistance fighter, and the one blood that connects Palestine to Syria, describing the show as a small uprising that affirms the survival of the Palestinian cause in the collective memory of peoples. Arab countries, and the need to return rights to their owners and liberate the occupied Arab lands, and the inevitability of the end of the occupation, no matter how long it takes.
The ceremony was attended by a number of heads and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Syria, representatives of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, leaders and representatives of Palestinian factions, artists, media professionals, and Syrian and Palestinian youth, educational and social activities.
It is noteworthy that the Society was established in 1968 and joined the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in 2006. It provides medical, relief, humanitarian and social services.
