A friend of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was killed in Rome on Sunday by a man who shot dead two other women and injured four other people, the head of government and the carabinieri announced.
The 57-year-old killer fired Sunday morning at participants in a syndic meeting in a northern district of the capital after stealing the weapon, a Glock pistol, from a shooting range.
Claudio Campi had conflicting relations with the administrators, whom he accused of wanting to evict him from his accommodation, according to a text published in early November on his blog.
Three women succumbed to their injuries, including Nicoletta Golisano, 50, mother of a 10-year-old boy, present at the meeting in her capacity as an accountant.
Giorgia Meloni revealed on Sunday evening that they are friends.

"
Nicoletta was a protective mother, a sincere and discreet friend, a strong and fragile woman at the same time
", wrote the far-right leader on her Facebook page, posting a photo of her and the victim during a party.
The killer “
has been arrested and I hope justice will take its course quickly
”.
But “
the word justice will never be able to suit this case.
Because it is not fair to die like this
,” Ms. Meloni added.
