Legitimate reasons or distaste for religion?

A group of residents of the youth towers in Tel Aviv-Jaffa oppose the fact that the Jewish Point organization, which won the municipal tender, will operate a day care center in the prestigious project.

Other neighbors came out against them and claimed: "Stop hating the religious."

A storm broke out in the last few days in a prestigious residential project in Tel Aviv - 'Migdali HaHatsairim', which is located on Menachem Begin Street and is home to quite a few celebrities and well-to-do people.

The reason for this is the opening of a children's daycare center whose operator was chosen to be the Jewish Point association, which is affiliated with the Leumi religious movement.

In the project, space was allocated for the benefit of public buildings and it was determined that a daycare center would be established for toddlers between the ages of birth and three.

Now that the occupancy is over, the municipality put the building up for tender to find an operator.

The first contestant chosen to operate the daycare center gave up and therefore the winner is the "Jewish Point" organization.

This is an association that is identified with the religious-national sector, operates a high yeshiva and a children's daycare center on another street in the city - which is supposed to copy its place to the luxury tower.

Registration at the daycare center is open to everyone and already today there are children of secular parents and even LGBT people.

However, a group of tenants living in Migdali HaTza'imim decided to start a fight against the decision.

They published a petition, held a meeting of tenants and these days are trying to sign the other tenants to oppose the identity of the chosen operator.

The petition circulated:

The petition distributed by the opposing tenants reads: "Recently it was brought to our attention and we were disappointed to find out that the winners of the tender for the operation of the kindergarten that is to be opened in the building are the 'Jewish Point' network which belongs to the Chabad stream (which is not true. N.D.). We wish to express first and foremost Our opposition to the opening of a kindergarten with a religious theme, since the absolute majority of the residents of the building lead a secular lifestyle and we wish to raise our children in such a way.

"Furthermore, a review of the results of the tender reveals that the winning operator actually has the lowest score of all the contestants who submitted nominations and that the win came about after the other contestants disagreed with the municipality," they explained.

"Afraid of depreciation"

But even the detractors have detractors.

Some of the residents of the building actually support the opening of the daycare center and even attacked the distributors of the petition.

In a message written in the building's tenants' group, one of the tenants claimed, "I went down to the lobby just as there was a discussion on the issue. Everyone who was there made shocking claims that they would start placing tefillin in the lobby and the like. The essence of the reasons for opposing this garden stem from the most disgusting reasons there are, such as lowering the value of the property and hating the difference . Disgusting. By the way, stop inciting religion and hating religious people."

The Municipality of Tel Aviv-Jaffa stated: "In the building at Menachem Begin 160, the municipality launched a quality tender, to which two contestants who met the threshold conditions approached. The first contestant who was chosen to operate the daycare center chose to withdraw his winnings, therefore the second bidder - "The Jewish Point" - a well-known operator in the city, won. who successfully operates a daycare center in the city center for the entire population and receives very high satisfaction from the residents. We would like to clarify that the municipality of Tel Aviv-Jaffa does not disqualify operators based on religion, race or nationality."

The Jewish Point Association responded: "The association won the tender according to law and submitted its proposal according to the criteria requested by the Tel Aviv Municipality. We will not refer to external factors that are not related to work with the municipality and they have no influence on the procedure. To our delight, the daycare center will open in the near future and take in dozens of children from the area." .
