Travelbook let its readers vote for the most beautiful Christmas market in Germany.
The Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt only came fourth.
Nuremberg – Numerous Christmas markets have been open since the end of November.
Since then, thousands have been bustling about at the stands and enjoying sausages, waffles and mulled wine - a Bavarian, by the way, has had a significant influence on the history of the popular hot drink.
Christmas market ranking: Where is the most beautiful in Germany?
But which of the numerous Christmas markets is the most beautiful in Germany?
A new ranking by Travelbook sheds light on this.
The portal had asked its readers about it on social networks.
From all submissions, the 12 most frequently mentioned were selected.
Readers could then vote for their favorites until December 4th.
A Christmas market has "once again clearly placed itself at the top of the most beautiful Christmas markets", it is said - and it is not the famous Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt.
Ranking of the most beautiful Christmas markets: Striezelmarkt in Dresden wins voting
As in the last voting (before Corona), the Dresden Striezelmarkt emerged as the winner with 4586 votes (around 18 percent).
It is the oldest documented Christmas market, it has been around since 1434. "We are extremely happy that we were able to defend our leading position over the forced break," explained Dr.
Robert Franke, Head of Dresden Economic Development, to Travelbook.
The most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany: Nuremberg only ranks fourth
Second place goes to the Esslinger Medieval and Christmas Market with around 11 percent, third place and bronze goes to the Christmas Market in Leipzig.

Most family-friendly small towns in Germany: Bavaria occupies 14 of the top 30 places in the Contor and Kommunal ranking. First place goes to Upper Bavaria.

The Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt started on November 25th and runs until December 24th.
