"The semifinal between France and Morocco will be like a derby"

Marc Bassets, correspondent in Paris, and Juan Carlos Sanz, correspondent in Rabat, analyze the preparations for the match in Qatar 2022

If there is a match that has history in the Qatar 2022 semifinals, it is the one that will face the teams of France, who eliminated England in the quarterfinals, and Morocco, who beat Portugal.

A meeting that is lived like a real derby.

"There is no rivalry of enemies between the two hobbies," considers the Paris correspondent for EL PAÍS Marc Basset, in a conversation on Fútbol Sapiens with Juan Carlos Sanz, a correspondent in Rabat.

"There is no hostility, it is as if two teams of brothers were playing because there are many people who have dual nationality in France," argues Bassets.

For his part, Juan Carlos Sanz considers that the Moroccans "are getting used to victory, they have defeated Spain, Portugal and now they are facing the nation that for decades was in charge of the destiny of their territory."

"There is no rivalry, there is a desire to continue with the streak, 14 of the 26 members were born abroad: France, the Netherlands, Spain..." Sanz points out.
