A new travel trend is booming: after all, where could you get closer to them than on film locations?
Impressive landscapes, sky-high skyscrapers or winding alleys: The places where cult series are set ensure that the viewer gets in the right mood.
Sometimes these locations recur or are particularly anchored in the thoughts and feelings of the main character of the series or film.
The viewer sympathizes and is also catapulted into the world of his favorite format when he enters the scene of what happened.
There is no other way to explain the new travel trend, which has been booming for several years.
This is “set jetting” – which means vacationing at the exact locations where your favorite production was filmed.
Germans like to drive to the locations of their favorite series and films
According to a recent survey by the online travel agency Expedia, two thirds of the travelers surveyed around the world have already considered going to a location that they know from a film or series.
30 percent have even made a trip there.
In Germany, a quarter of the 18 to 24 age group state that the influence of series and films on their travel behavior has increased over the past twelve months.
But what are the five most popular travel destinations for German jet setters?
1. Iceland

Diverse landscapes with geysers, volcanoes and thundering waterfalls: Iceland is a gem that has also served as a visually stunning backdrop for the most successful series of all time.

2. New York
"Sex and the City", "Gossip Girl" and "Friends": They all have in common that they are set in the Big Apple.
This is worth a trip in itself thanks to its multitude of sights such as the Met Museum or the Empire State Building.
Time-honored buildings and hotels as well as skyscrapers let you float into other spheres and be very close to your favorite characters.
But even in Germany, thanks to the Netflix series "The Empress", a fairytale castle is now attracting attention.
