In Chile, a new constitutional project

This time, the writing of the text will be supervised by experts.

On September 4, a draft Constitution was rejected by

64% of Chileans.

However, a broad consensus existed on the need to put an end to the legal framework established under the Augusto Pinochet regime in 1980. This institutionalized an ultra-liberal economy inspired by representatives of the Chicago school of economics, the “ Chicago Boys”.

But the text submitted three months ago for the approval of the Chileans was deemed too radical.
