Damascus-SANA
In a festive atmosphere that included Christmas hymns presented by the choir “Mar Ephrem Al-Syriani” conducted by Maestro Shadi Sarwa in multiple languages, the Christmas tree was lit in Al-Mazzeh area, which was designed by the Syrian plastic artist Buthaina Ali, to serve as a message of love, peace and creativity in this year’s glorious holiday season.
The tree, which was unique in its design and simple ideas, was punctuated by blue and silver balls suspended in the air, and surrounded by blue lighting, in addition to transparent gift boxes beside it, and natural blue roses as well, so that whoever saw it feels as if he is in a beautiful blue dream, and carries him to a quiet magical world.
“Syrian Tree,” according to the artist (Ali), consisted in its content of six steel cables ascending from the luminous white doves, and each cable includes about fifty pigeons lined up, so that these cables converge in a lighted cube.
The artist, Ali, indicated that she chose the tree to be made of pigeons, as an indication of the Syrian person who carries peace in his heart, adding: “We, the Syrians, have been brought up on many values and customs, all of which result in our being a people of love and peace.”
In his turn, Maestro Shadi Sarwa indicated that the choir's participation is part of a series of participations to celebrate Christmas in different regions of Damascus.
