The quantities of granulated cotton that were ginned by the Mahrada gin in Hama governorate reached 400 tons out of the total quantity received for the current season, which is 725 tons.
The director of the gin, Eng. Asaad Qalawiz, told SANA's reporter today that 230 tons of agricultural seeds and 158 tons of ginned cotton bales resulted from the ginning operations, and the rest is dust and secondary waste, indicating that the gin is currently operating in one shift and with a ginning capacity of 15 tons per day.
He pointed out that during the next week, the ginned cotton bales will start to be shipped to spinning and weaving companies in various governorates in the event that transportation means are available, indicating that agricultural seeds are currently being stored and kept in bags, in preparation for their supply to the branch of the General Organization for Seed Multiplication in Hama next year.
And Qalawiz indicated that the ginning plant suffers from frequent power outages and the absence of a diesel generator to operate the ginning plant, pointing out that the ginning operations are proceeding according to a well-studied plan, which helps the ginning season to end in a timely manner.
