Miguel Barbosa, governor of the Mexican state of Puebla, died this Tuesday.
This was reported by the Government of Puebla on its Twitter account.
According to the message, the governor died in Mexico City.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reacted to the news on his Twitter account: "I am very sorry for the death of my colleague Miguel Barbosa Huerta, governor of the state of Puebla. I just spoke with his wife Rosario, I expressed my sadness and I extend my deepest condolences to family, friends and his people".
Miguel Barbosa, 63, was a federal deputy from 2000 to 2003, a senator of the Republic between 2012 and 2018 and president of the board of directors of the Chamber of Senators from 2014 to 2015.
He obtained his law degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and was a columnist for the newspaper Milenio Nacional.
He was nominated for governor by the Juntos Haremos Historia Coalition, which was made up of the National Regeneration Movement, Labor and Social Encounter parties.
