Mini district grows by ten percent: 30 refugees come into a two-family house

The district of Landsham-Moos (302 inhabitants) in the municipality of Pliening will grow by ten percent: 30 refugees will be accommodated in a two-family house.

That causes resentment.

Landsham – The asylum seekers are men from Syria and Yemen, according to the district office.

The private owners of this property have rented the building to the district of Ebersberg to accommodate refugees, Pliening's mayor Roland Frick reported on Friday morning at an information event he organized at short notice at the request of local residents.

According to Frick, the municipality was generally left out of private rentals and was only recently informed about the occupancy of 30 people.

A circumstance that both local residents and the mayor consider to be intolerable and inhumane, as was said at the community-internal event (without representatives from the district office) in the conference room of the town hall.

The question arose several times from the ranks of the residents as to how the refugees should be integrated – 30 men in one house and in a small district, far from any shopping facilities.

Some mothers also spoke out about safety, saying they were afraid for their children.

When asked by our newspaper, the Ebersberg district office announced that there would be no security service on site.

"A security service is not necessary for accommodation of this size, the experiences here in the district have been very good so far.

There are also larger accommodations without a security service," says the written answer from the press office of the district authority.

In it, District Administrator Robert Niedergesäß is quoted as saying: “We have great understanding for the concerns of the neighborhood and the community.

However, there is unfortunately no alternative for us because all the other facilities are already fully occupied and others are not yet available .

Landsham: Houses privately let to county

In order to create space in the newly established anchor center (in the former savings bank building with a hall in Ebersberg), 30 people who are already accommodated there would have to be evacuated on Monday – to Landsham-Moos.

At the information event on Friday, which was attended by around 30 citizens, the same questions were asked again and again: Is there a security concept?

Is the building allowed for 30 people?

Who takes care of the refugees?

Frick couldn't help but repeat that it wasn't the municipality but the district office that was responsible.

So far he has not received any information.

District Office: Sufficient space in the house

In the answers to our newspaper's questions to the press office of the district office, it says on the subject of whether there is enough space for 30 people in the building at Speicherseestraße 79: "Because of the dramatic situation that is currently affecting the accommodation of the people who have fled, not only prevails in the district of Ebersberg, the ministry has currently suspended the guidelines that have regulated certain space requirements.

Nevertheless, the guidelines guide the actions of the district office and are also observed in this property without major deviations.” There are three bathrooms in the house at Speicherseestrasse 79 (one per floor), “that corresponds to the guideline number of ten people per bathroom”.

Pliening's mayor wants to examine legal options

When asked who is supporting the refugees on site (e.g. when dealing with authorities), the district office replies: “Employees in the responsible department provide support with orientation, etc., as far as this is possible in this crisis situation.”

The district is urgently looking for accommodation options

The district of Ebersberg urgently needs accommodation for the accommodation of refugees, reports the Ebersberg district office.

"It is best to use large buildings or developed plots of land for container construction," says a statement.

According to the district office, there are “far too few accommodation options and people come here very regularly who the district has to accommodate”.

The current situation is primarily about finding a roof over people's heads.

Mayor Roland Frick reported that another house in Landsham-Moos (speicherseestraße 61) had been rented privately to the district office and that this was also being used for refugees.

In the case of the two-family house at Speicherseestraße 79, Frick announced that he would do everything possible to reduce the number of 30 people.

"I use what is legally in my power." Here he is thinking in particular of fire protection - it should be checked whether this is guaranteed.

In addition, according to Frick, it should be clarified whether the district office should not have applied for a change in use.
