The official spokesman for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, considered that the proposals of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about what he considered “steps towards peace” only lead to the continuation of military operations.
Russia Today quoted Peskov as saying in press statements: These three steps are steps towards the continuation of the fighting.
Zelensky had proposed earlier what he called steps towards achieving peace, including the supply of new long-range weapons to Ukraine, and providing it with tanks, artillery and modern missiles.
Peskov also stressed that the withdrawal of his country's forces from Ukraine before the end of the year is out of the question, stressing at the same time that in order to achieve peace it is necessary to take into account the new facts about the accession of new regions to Russia.
On the other hand, Peskov commented on the statements of French President Emmanuel Macron about the presence of heavy weapons at the nuclear power plant in Zaporozhye, saying: I want to recall the words of President Vladimir Putin that there were no heavy weapons at the station, and there are no heavy weapons as the agency staff can. The International Atomic Energy Agency who are there clearly confirm this.
