The special duty team of the Mongkok Police District launched an anti-criminal and anti-drug operation codenamed "LEVINGTON" in Kowloon City to crack down on drug trafficking activities in the area and cut off the income sources of triads.

Officers stopped and searched a suspicious woman at the opposite side of Ho Man Tin Street yesterday (13th), and seized 213 grams of suspected heroin on her body on the spot; then searched the woman’s residence on Ho Man Tin Street and seized another 739 grams Suspected heroin and more than 815 grams of suspected "ice" drugs, the total market value of drugs is about 1.3 million yuan.

Officers then arrested a man involved in the case outside the unit.


It is understood that the arrested woman's surname is Tan (29 years old) and the arrested man's surname is Zhang (52 years old). Both of them were arrested for "drug trafficking" and are currently being detained for investigation.

According to preliminary investigations by the police, the arrested men and women were suspected of being responsible for drug packaging and local distribution, and rented the units involved in the case to store and package drugs.

Police believe that the operation has successfully intercepted a batch of drugs being supplied to the Mong Kok area.

The case was handed over to the special duty team of the Mong Kok Police District for further follow-up.

The police stated that they have been cracking down on drug black spots in the district and adopting a zero-tolerance attitude, and reminded the public that "drug trafficking" is a serious crime.

According to the "Dangerous Drugs Ordinance" (Chapter 134 of the Laws of Hong Kong), once convicted, the maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of 5 million yuan.
