Record growth for the fire brigade – thanks to a bet

This year, 82 women and men, girls and boys have registered with the Dachau fire brigade and want to actively work: This record growth is due to the membership recruitment campaign, consisting of bets and counter-bets between the mayor and fire department bosses.

Dachau - "Extraordinary", "Fabulous", "Incredible": The "Wette 44" is also won!

"In 2022 we were able to win an unbelievable 54 new members for active service and for our youth fire brigade," announced second commander Gerd Lobmeier on Saturday evening to great applause at this year's Christmas party of the Dachau fire brigade.

"As far as I know, there has never been such an increase and thus such a reinforcement for our team in such a short time in the history of the Dachau fire brigade or in the history of any comparable fire brigade!" Among these 54 new comrades, 38 alone are adults who have already started their training or have already completed some of it and are on assignments.

The member recruitment campaign was implemented by the fire brigade and the Dachau agency Weimer und Paulus.

First of all, it was the "bet 22" that Mayor Florian Hartmann lost: Within a very short time, the volunteer fire brigade was able to recruit 22 new firefighters for active duty (we reported).

The mayor called for a counter-bet, the "bet 44".

Thanks to the more than 44 new active members by the end of the year, not only does the mayor have to cash in his bet from “Wette 22” – three official appointments in a fire brigade outfit – but also the fire brigade: a Ramadama in the city.

The fire brigade did not fail to thank Mayor Hartmann, the city council and the administration during the Christmas party.

"Thank you very much for providing us with the funds so that we could set up this really cool and effective campaign," said Lobmeier.

"I think you can see that it was worth it."

A conclusion that Lord Mayor Hartmann was happy to agree with: "A really extraordinary campaign that is second to none and for which the Dachau fire brigade can only be given respect and recognition!" 22" in the spring, the mayor admitted.

The fire brigade is sure to feel the same way with the "Wette 44".

And even if the campaign is now officially over - the search for new active people will of course continue.

"Of course, we are also looking for new firefighters outside of 'Wette 44' in the coming year," emphasized Lobmeier.
