Neymar tearfully says goodbye to the World Cup 0:54
(CNN Spanish) -
The Provincial Court of Barcelona issued an acquittal in favor of the Brazilian striker Neymar Jr. as well as the rest of the defendants in the trial known as the "Neymar case."
In this Monday's ruling, to which CNN has had access, the magistrates acquitted the player, his parents, the former presidents of Barcelona Football Club Josep María Bartomeu and Alexandre Rosell, the former manager of Santos Football Club Odilio Rodrígues and three legal persons : the Fútbol Club Barcelona, the Santos Fútbol Club and the N&N sports consultancy (Neymar Jr.'s family company) of charges of corruption between individuals and fraud.
Originally, the nine people were prosecuted as a result of a lawsuit filed by DIS-Esportes, a Brazilian company specializing in soccer that owned 40% of the economic rights over the striker while he was at Santos FC.
The firm maintained that the transfer of the player from Santos FC to FC Barcelona had materialized opaquely, hiding the real cost of the operation to prevent the company from receiving its share.
Neymar affirms in his trial that he did not participate in the negotiations for the transfer to Barcelona in 2013
However, the court considered it proven that in the transfer of the player there was no "contractual simulation", that is, an operation to hide the value of his contract and, therefore, there was no purpose of harming the company.
The trial against Neymar Jr. and the rest of the defendants took place over six sessions that lasted from October 17 to 31 of this year.
The nine defendants had repeatedly denied the allegations.
