The Marienbrunnen in Wolfratshausen remains where it has been since 1924.
The initiators of the citizens' initiative celebrate their success.

Together with many helpers, the three city councilors of the Wolfratshauser list had mobilized in the past few months against the relocation of the Marienbrunnen, which was decided by the majority of the city council - as reported with resounding success.

"An approval of over 86 percent is one of the best results ever achieved in a referendum in Bavaria," Fleischer stated.
In Wolfratshausen, the clear vote is unique so far anyway.
Even the vote against the barrier solution for the planned S-Bahn extension ended in July 2010 with a less clear result.
At that time, 80.76 percent of voters said no to the barrier.
"We only implemented what many citizens asked us to do," Forster explained the motivation of the initiators.
Fleischer thanked the helpers who collected around 2,650 signatures and thus created the legal prerequisites for the implementation of the referendum.
"That was a victory for democracy, the people as the supreme sovereign were allowed to decide," said Fleischer enthusiastically.
Forster and Kugler emphasized that not only members of the WOR list had campaigned for the vote.
"I hope now that the city council will take a closer look at the plans to upgrade the old town," says Kugler.
In his opinion, there are enough shortcomings.
In addition to the loss of parking spaces, he denounces the reduction in lane widths.
Ex-mayor holds successor in office responsible for referendums
Sibylle Steckermaier described the fact that some city councilors defended their decision to move the fountain after the vote on social networks and denied the citizens' competence as "arrogant".
Erich Brockard junior sees it the same way.
"Either the city councils were wrong in their decision or they couldn't convey the concept to the citizens," he said on Monday.
Old town protected, wells prevented from being destroyed and over 220,000 euros saved.

The former head of the town hall, Helmut Forster, blamed his successor in office, Klaus Heilinglechner (citizens' association), for the referendum being held.
"He really wanted to go through with it, even though we asked him not to." As reported, the city council could have overturned its April 15:5 decision to move the fountain before a referendum, thus saving work and money.
The trio of city council members left it open whether the Wolfratshauser list will also rely on referendums and decisions in other areas after the great voting success.
The main goal has been achieved for the time being, Fleischer summed up: "The old town is protected, the destruction of the fountain is prevented and more than 220,000 euros are saved." (ph)
