Eight terrorists, who identified with ISIS, were convicted following their involvement in the mass stampede attack that happened more than six years ago in which 86 people were murdered, including 15 children, and 450 others were injured.

In the attack, Mohammed al-Khawaij Bouhlal drove a truck at full speed through crowds watching the Bastille Day fireworks display in Nice, France, and was shot by the police.

The eight defendants, seven men and one woman, were convicted of assisting al-Khawaij Bouhlal in organizing the attack.

The judge sentenced them to prison terms ranging from two to 18 years.

This, after more than three months in which testimonies were given by the survivors of the attack.

Prosecutors agreed that not everyone has a clear connection to terrorism or knows what Buhlal was planning.

The duo most closely associated with Lal-Khawaij Buhlal are Muhammad Gharib and Chokri Chaproud, who were convicted of terrorism charges and sentenced to the longest prison term, 18 years.

The prosecution said the two had an "intense relationship" with al-Khawaij Bouhlal, as Ghraib had known the terrorist for 15 years and had 1,278 phone calls with him in one year.

Grieve's lawyer, Vincent Barengrath, said that his client will appeal the decision.

The survivors of the attack welcomed the judge's verdict and described it as a "small victory".

Caroline Villani, whose relatives were killed in the attack, said: "It won't bring back my family, my mother, my son, but it's a small victory that feels good."

The Daesh organization claimed responsibility for the attack a few days after it occurred but offered no proof that the attacker, who had a history of domestic violence and petty crimes, had a direct connection with the organization.
