An Israeli citizen was killed today (Wednesday) while trying to smuggle drugs at the Egyptian border.

The IDF force was rushed to the scene after a report was received about the smuggling attempt and the concentration of citizens on both sides of the border, and began the procedure of arresting a suspect. An IDF spokesperson said that the entire incident is under investigation.



The report of an attempted drug smuggling was received in the late afternoon, and as a result, IDF forces arrived in the area with the aim of thwarting the smuggling. During the activity in the field, it was reported that civilians began to flee the scene. After the army began the procedure of arresting a suspect, another report was received according to which an Israeli citizen was wounded by gunfire, and later who died of his wounds.



In recent weeks, the IDF has reported on a large scale of possible drug smuggling that was caught by commanders and fighters in Utzbat Adom on the Egyptian border with the assistance of the Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Police.
