An apparently stray projectile from a hunting rifle hit a passenger train in Lower Bavaria.
The LKA is now examining the weapon and ammunition.
Straubing – No traveler wants to experience that.
On the way from Regensburg to Passau, a regional train near Straubing was hit by a bullet on Friday (December 9).
The projectile shattered the glass pane of the train and got stuck in the wall of a train compartment.
Travelers made an emergency call, and the train finally stopped at Straßkirchen station.
Ball hits regional train: "Fortunately, no one was injured"
"Fortunately, no one was injured," writes the police in Lower Bavaria about the incident.
The track was closed, the officials searched the route for suspicious people.
"In the course of further initial investigations, it was finally possible to identify a hunter who is presumably responsible for firing the shot."
In order to be really sure whether the bullet was fired by the found hunter, both the weapon and the ammunition of the man as well as the secured projectile are examined at the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office in Munich.
The police initially did not provide any information as to whether the suspected shooter was even aware that his bullet had hit the train after the shot was fired.

No major disruptions to train traffic
The blocked track was released again after around two hours, so the track closure did not have any major impact on other rail traffic.
There were only minor delays.
Most of the passengers on the affected train were able to continue their journey on the following train.
At the beginning of the year, a man in Lower Franconia died during a drive hunt because a colleague's ricochet hit him.
