Rotem: "It is very broad to define my work as event photography or documentation. I photograph emotions, I capture flashes of moments that evoke thoughts, questions and inspiration, I am constantly looking for that one second that will evoke something in the viewer. People have a tendency to want the perfect image, But in practice, the most beautiful photos are those in which something happens - in a look, a smile, a twitch of the face or a gesture. In the end, it is precisely in these small moments that people stop and say "what an amazing photo".
When everyone is holding their smartphone in their hand and documenting every moment non-stop, To what extent do you as a photographer add value to the event?
Rotem: "Event photographers are professionals who are equipped with skills and equipment, but also with creativity and a different vision than those standing on the other side of the camera. It is true that today there are YouTubers, TikTokers and Instagram users who have learned to create photos and videos at a very high level, but the difference is not only in the quality of the image, but with the attitude with which they come to photograph.
"First, I prefer to document the event and interfere as little as possible.
Nowadays, many of those who hold the camera on their mobile don't understand what that means at all.
Everything is faked, everything is engineered and usually the photos do not reflect the reality as it is.
When you capture a real and exciting moment, you don't need all these decorations, they become an element that detracts from the image and destroys its authenticity.
