On Tuesday, the prefecture of Loire-Atlantique communicated an update on crime in Nantes and throughout the Loire department over the last three months.

This shows

“increasingly encouraging results”

according to the State services.

"This report confirms and sometimes amplifies the favorable trends observed in September-October 2022"

, it is written.

The changes given are established in comparison with the figures for the same period last year.

As for burglaries, the figures are down at the departmental level (-19%).

In Nantes, the decrease is a little less significant (-14.52%).

For vehicle thefts, the situation has improved in Nantes: 280 incidents in 2022 compared to 343 in 2021, i.e. a drop of 18.37%.

On this point, the dynamic is reversed throughout Loire-Atlantique with an increase in incidents of 10.31% (1,209 thefts in 2022 against 1,096 thefts in 2021).

Decline in violent robberies

Thefts with violence, committed with or without weapons, are down in Nantes (-28.64%) as in the whole of the department (-28.12%).

The dynamic is similar for violence in transport: 126 facts observed in 2022 against 151 for 2021 at the level of the department (-16.46%) and 98 facts for 2022 against 117 for 2021 in Nantes (-16.24%) .

Data which

"reflect the strong commitment of the State on the ground"

, mentions the prefecture.

She attributes the "good" current figures to several factors:

"security operations in the neighborhoods carried out daily"

,

"the recent arrival of 70 additional national police officers"

as well as

"the affection of an additional CRS"

since mid- september.

Additional means but not yet sufficient enough according to the police unions.

As for drug trafficking, pointed out by some residents of the Nantes conurbation, the prefecture insists on the "

strong increase in criminal fixed fines (AFD) taken against consumers of narcotics"

.

Over the last three months, there have been 422 AFD against 184 over the same period last year.

Domestic violence on the rise

This is the black point of the latest assessment of the prefecture: the increase in acts of intra-family violence, committed in the private sphere and brought to the attention of the police.

1229 victims have been recorded over the last three months against 1075 over the same period last year.

This gives a resurgence of 14.33% of these situations.

These data confirm the

"annual upward trend"

underlines the prefecture.

According to the State services, which recalls that an awareness campaign has been carried out on this subject for several weeks, this trend would be linked in particular to the

"freedom of the word of the victims and the confidence of the victims in the follow-up given"

.

In a few days, the prefecture should communicate a report on delinquency in Nantes and Loire-Atlantique for the whole of 2022.
