First band battle in Markt Schwaben

The Rock Store now promotes young bands.

The AK Art and Culture has become the ultimate hit in Markt Schwaben, so to speak.

A child of this is the Rock Store, which now wants to support young musicians with a band competition.

Markt Schwaben - The Rock Store in the flea shop has established itself well.

Collectors come from far away and, even now that the temperatures are a bit cooler, they rummage through the many records for special treasures.

"If you want good records, you just have to suffer a little with the temperatures," laughs Matthias Triebel, the initiator of the Rock Store.

The records are donated, there are donation boxes at some recycling centers in the district or the Rock Store team picks them up from the donors' homes.

"Of course, we are extremely dependent on people donating their records to us so that we can invest the money we have raised back in the art market of Swabia," Triebel explains the concept of the Rock Store again briefly and succinctly.

Part of the money raised now benefits young bands.

1,500 euros in prize money have been estimated for the band battle.

The Rock Store team wants to appeal to young musicians in particular.

"Young, ambitious bands between the ages of 16 and 27 can apply to us".

It is best to send the demo song to rockstore-marktschwaben@gmx.de via mp3 or send a USB stick/CD to the Rock Store in the Trödlerei, Färbergasse 23 in Markt Schwaben.

By the way, the style of music doesn't matter at all.

"From classic, folk music, punk, rock everything is allowed," says Triebel, "we just want to reach a broad spectrum".

And the applicants are not just limited to the district, "they can come from anywhere, it doesn't matter, we're happy about everyone".

The submitted songs must of course be subjected to a jury, which consists of a professional musician - da Keller Bua - alongside Matthias Triebel and Michael Kramer, both also thoroughbred music lovers and expert in the most diverse areas.

Six bands will then have a performance on April 22, 2023 at the Blues youth center in Markt Schwaben.

The start will be around 4 p.m., admission is free and then there will be a disco.

The event will be moderated by Jonas Frank and Michael Stolze, 1.

You can apply to the Rock Store for the first band battle in Markt Schwaben until the end of March 2023.

"And if the competition goes down well, then we've already considered holding it annually."
