Gas consumption has fallen by 10.5% since August 1 in climate-corrected data in France, according to the first weekly winter dashboard published on Wednesday by the gas transport manager GRTgaz.

This drop is the result of both lower gas consumption by large manufacturers (-22.1%) and a drop in consumption by customers connected to the distribution networks (-14.1%).
However, these figures are to be compared with a significant increase (+43.5%) in the consumption of gas-fired power plants “
very much in demand to compensate for the unavailability of the nuclear fleet
”, underlines in a press release GRTgaz.
