"Of course that worries me," said the SPD politician to the Welt television station.
“That calls on those who are responsible for prisons in Germany to take a very close look again.
Especially with someone like the assassin from Halle, where we know that he tried to flee during the trial, that there is also special attention there," warned Faeser.

The Halle assassin wanted to force his release by taking hostages in the JVA Burg.
The State Ministry of Justice announced on Tuesday in Magdeburg that this can be concluded from the statements made during the crime.
The 30-year-old was injured, but not seriously.

He then tried to force another employee to open more doors.
Finally, he was overpowered by eight prison officers.

In the prison in Burg, a 30-year-old prisoner temporarily had two employees in his power, the Saxony-Anhalt Ministry of Justice announced early Tuesday morning.
As it has now turned out, the kidnapper is Stefan Balliet, who killed two people in an attack on the synagogue in Halle in October 2019.
In Burg he is serving a life sentence with subsequent preventive detention.
