The 14th National People's Congress election in Hong Kong was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center at 9:00 this morning. 1,423 members of the election meeting will elect 36 deputies to the Hong Kong People's Congress by secret ballot.

In this Hong Kong District People's Congress election, 42 candidates have been confirmed as candidates, including 15 current NPC deputies seeking re-election, including Ye Yuru, Wu Qiubei, Li Yinquan, Li Yingsheng, Lin Shunchao, Yao Zuhui, Hu Xiaoming, Ma Fengguo, and Chen Yong , Chen Zhenbin, Chen Manqi, Chen Xiaofeng, Lei Tianliang, Cai Yi and Kuang Meiyun.

According to the election method, candidates must be nominated by 15 members of the election meeting, and each member of the election meeting can nominate up to 36 people.

Some candidates received more than 500 nominations, including Wu Qiubei, Chen Yong, Chen Manqi, Kuang Meiyun, who are running for re-election, and Li Huiqiong, who has changed the runway.

There are senior Hong Kong people's congresses who have retired. The backgrounds of the candidates are diverse, including the fields of innovation and technology, law, education, finance, culture, industry, and people involved in grassroots or regional work.

There are 14 candidates born in the 1970s, and three candidates born in the 1980s, reflecting that more and more young people are willing to participate in the work of the Hong Kong People's Congress, hoping to inject a new atmosphere into the work of the Hong Kong People's Congress.

After the presidium meeting of the election conference held last week, the spokesperson of the presidium, Tan Huizhu, said that the supervisor of the election is Huang Yushan, the current deputy to the National People's Congress, and there are 21 other supervisors including Deng Jiabiao.
