WE WERE THERE – As the second installment of James Cameron's film hits screens in France this Wednesday, we visited Avatar – The Experience, in Singapore's Gardens By The Bay.

If you didn't know it yet, Avatar 2 gives us an appointment under water and on the big screen since this Wednesday.

But absolute fans of James Cameron's masterpiece also have an appointment in Singapore where the exhibition

Avatar - The Experience

is being held until March 31 .

Direction more precisely the Cloud Forest Dome, a huge air-conditioned greenhouse which presents tropical vegetation on several floors with, as a highlight, a small interior mountain 35 meters high, covered with plants from which springs the highest waterfall in inland water of the world.

You couldn't dream of a more inspiring decor to recreate the atmosphere of Pandora.

Part of the scenography was already there.

There was more than

“said Michael Mattox, the technical director, who has more than 25 years of experience in 3D.

As soon as you enter the Dome, the immersive effect is immediate.

At the foot of the waterfall, you are "

welcomed

" by a larger-than-life Banshee, one of the birds that the Na'vis were able to tame to move through the air.

A little further on, two imposing Prolemuris, kinds of blue monkeys, are clinging to tropical trees.

The arrival in front of a Na'vis family is poignant.

Here they are finally, facing us, these famous blue humanoids over 3 meters high!

Be careful, an impressive Titanothere Hammer seems to emerge from the vegetation (phew, it's a harmless herbivore).

At this point, whether or not you've seen the movie

Avatar 1

, you're totally caught up in the science-fiction universe of Pandora.

A bird of 12 meters

Sound effects and sound effects enhance the experience, as do several interactive animations, including the popular Flyer Banshee: you face a screen and, thanks to sensors that detect movement, you have the feeling of flying in Pandora, moving the arms and tilting the body.

Guaranteed sensations!

In another room, we cross luminous vines before ending up in a multimedia show.

On a giant screen scroll scenes of

Avatar

, while on the ground, the spectators, while moving, move with them hundreds of luminous particles, a sign of their connection with Pandora…

Let's unveil the highlight of the exhibition: a huge adult Banshee, piloted by artificial intelligence.

The bird, 12 m wide, detects the presence of visitors and interacts with them.

The result is visually breathtaking and strikingly realistic: movements of the head, the wings, the mouth, the eyes… everything is there, including the raucous growls!

“This animation is, on the technological level, what is being done most successfully today”

, rejoices Michael Mattox.

A sea cave - which we see in this second opus - is reconstructed.

And as this second episode of

Avatar

is entitled

The Way of the Water

, we also took a walk in the reconstructed sea cave to admire an Ilu, the plesiosaur-like creature that appears in the film.

A magnificent sculpture with soft blue hues… You can easily spend an hour in this other world, disconnected from reality.

And we say to ourselves that we would come back in the evening, when other plays of light create an even different atmosphere.
