On behalf of Mr. President Bashar al-Assad and First Lady Asma al-Assad, the Governor of Aleppo, Hussein Diab, offered condolences on the death of the poet Safouh Shaghala, who passed away yesterday at the age of 66.

The Governor of Aleppo conveyed the condolences of the President and the First Lady to the family of the late poet Shaghala, noting his great role in supporting the artistic and cultural scene in Syria in general, and Aleppo in particular with many distinguished and immortal works, which had a great impact on preserving the cultural heritage of Aleppo.

The governor referred to the late poet's patriotic stances, which were embodied through his artistic career and patriotic lyrical works over many decades, the latest of which was the preparations for a new event on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the liberation of the city of Aleppo.

The family of the deceased expressed their thanks and appreciation for this kind initiative, and the generous gesture of the leader of the homeland and his sympathy to them, which expresses appreciation for the patriotic stances of the late during his life, stressing that their deceased received constant and continuous attention from President al-Assad and the First Lady, and many meetings during his artistic career.

The late Safouh Shaghala is considered one of the most prominent poets of the Syrian song who presented works in the various Syrian dialects and the various dialects of the Arab world, while his lyrics were composed by a number of the most famous composers, and he was sung by the great singers in Syria and the Arab world.
