Germering - After a kitchen fire in Germering on December 2nd, the rescuer of the 16-year-old resident was honored today, December 14th.
On Friday, December 2, around 2:30 p.m., a fire broke out in an apartment on Germeringer Wotanstrasse.
According to the current state of investigation, the cause of the fire was a frying pan filled with fat that was left on the stove and caught fire.
The 16-year-old schoolgirl, who was alone in the apartment, tried to put it out and the fire grew even larger.
A neighbor's visitor, who saw the flames from an apartment across the street, ran to the apartment and rescued the 16-year-old from the burning kitchen.
He then went back into the apartment to both close the kitchen door and thus prevent the fire from spreading and to search the apartment for other people.
He himself suffered from smoke inhalation but has now fully recovered.
He saved a life for the third time
The young woman's rescuer was 42-year-old Hüseyin Seher.
According to him, the man from Fürstenfeldbruck, who works as a kitchen help, has saved people from burning apartments or houses for the third time in his life.
Today he was presented with a reward from the "Citizens & Police Support Group" for his selfless commitment to others by the department head of the Germering Police Inspectorate, EPHK Roland Nist.
"Of course I didn't do that because I get money for it," said the honoree during the handover.
Still, Nist couldn't resist asking him if he'd ever thought about joining the fire department.
With a proud smile, Mr. Seher denied this - he was satisfied with his current job.
