The 30 candidates for the election of Miss France 2023 will, this Wednesday, pass before the members of the preselection jury who will determine the fifteen qualified for the semi-final of the beauty contest. Representative of Île-de-France three years ago, Évelyne de Larichaudy remembers.

"You're probably wondering: 'What is she doing there?'

On December 14, 2019 at the Dôme de Marseille,

Évelyne de Larichaudy

was

one of the fifteen candidates for the

Miss France

2020 competition qualified for the semi-final.

If the final victory of the beauty contest broadcast live on TF1 had gone to Guadeloupe's Clémence Botino, the elegant representative of Île-de-France had obtained a beautiful thirteenth place.

Aged 23 at the time, the one who had just obtained a double degree in the field of building and public works after studying in an engineering school as well as a stint in an American university had made an impression with her very natural, spontaneous and funny presentation speech.

And if Évelyne de Larichaudy had the opportunity to speak during this ceremony, it is because she had succeeded in her preparation alongside the 29 other candidates and had been able to convince the preselection jury to retain her in this top 15 of the Miss France 2020 competition. Three days before the big evening hosted by Jean-Pierre Foucault, the participants had passed one after the other before this jury whose eleven members were part of the Miss France organization or the TF1 group.

“It's a kind of great oral

, Sylvie Tellier explained to us at the time.

For the first time, the candidates appear before us, prepared and made up by them.

The goal is to judge their eloquence but especially to see their evolution after the month of preparation.

With the other jurors, we try to see if they are ready to wear the crown.

Three years to the day after this

"great oral"

, Évelyne de Larichaudy remembers.

"It was a pretty stressful moment, not to the point of having an all-nighter, but we were asking ourselves a lot of questions about what the jury was going to ask us"

, told us the one who continued her job as an engineer for a year. before devoting himself to modeling and the exploitation of his social networks.

“It's something that we prepare a long time in advance with our regional committee, whether it's the hairstyle, the make-up or the outfit.

It's a decisive step, you have to be ready.

Nothing is left to chance.

Like top athletes, the misses train to get ready on their own after choosing their dress.

The objective is clear: to convince.

“I had trained to do different types of hairstyles and different make-up to find the best combination with my outfit

,” explained Miss Île-de-France 2019.

“We lent each other our make-up and our jewelry”

Evelyne de Larichaudy

Évelyne de Larichaudy showed up wearing a

“beautiful black mermaid dress”

.

“There was great solidarity between the girls, we helped each other prepare and check that everything was fine.

We even lent each other our make-up or our jewellery

, she recalls.

My passage had gone very well, the jury had been benevolent.

He had asked me the reasons for my participation in Miss France and if I felt good in this adventure.

I was happy with myself.

Afterwards, the decision was not played only at that time, we had been observed and judged during several weeks of preparation.

I didn't know if I was going to be in the top 15 but I had given everything to get there.

I

I really wanted to become Miss France.

As for the speech she had delivered live on TF1 during the Miss France ceremony and which marked the viewers so much, Évelyne de Larichaudy remembers having repeated it in advance without learning it by heart.

“I had ideas in my head but I hadn't learned anything word for word.

The “But what is she doing there that one” was planned.

On the other hand, the intonation with which the sentence came out was not!

(Laughs.) It came out like that, it was fate and it made everyone laugh.

I don't consider that my performance was a failure and I'm happy that people still remember me for that.

Even three years later, people still talk to me about it.
