The branch of the General Organization for Seed Multiplication in Homs has completed the implementation of its full production plan for the cultivation of wheat seed multiplication fields.
The director of the Seed Multiplication Branch in Homs, Eng. Mahdi Mahmoud, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the branch, through the fields it contracted with farmers, has finished planting about 334 tons of wheat seed, with a total area of more than 13,000 dunams, while the wheat cultivation process is currently continuing in the fields that have been contracted. So far, 46 tons of barley have been cultivated.
Mahmoud indicated that the branch's plan for the current season includes the production of about five thousand tons of wheat and one thousand tons of barley.
Mahmoud pointed out that the amount of wheat seed that the branch sold to farmers through agricultural banks has so far reached 3,800 tons of sterilized wheat, and about 250 tons of barley.
It is noteworthy that the Homs seed multiplication branch received about 4,200 tons of wheat and 300 tons of barley during the last season.
