The city is winterizing the construction site on Egerlandstraße.

It will be a while before it is released for cars.

Pedestrians can get through.

Geretsried – The good news: From Friday, December 16th, there will again be a direct footpath from Karl-Lederer-Platz to Egerlandstraße.

There is bad news, however.

The Egerlandstraße will remain closed to motorists until the summer.

It would be realistic to "release them after the parade for the summer festival," Mayor Michael Müller announced on Monday evening at the meeting of the Building and Environment Committee.

Geretsried: Egerlandstrasse will not be open to cars until summer

On the home straight, the issue of concrete is causing the delay, City Planning Officer Rainer Goldstein made clear.

The yellow surface that was also used on Karl-Lederer-Platz has already been applied along the houses.

"It's just unpolished," says the head of the building department at City Hall.

However, the road areas are still black.

It took longer to relocate the divisions there because lines were not available.

"The year was difficult," concluded Goldstein.

Now the sub-zero temperatures are inconvenient.

"Since last week, it has no longer been possible to build a ceiling," reported Goldstein.

He assumes that it will not be possible to mix concrete again until the middle or end of March.

The planted seating elements and the fountain are also missing.

"As of now, the construction schedule ends in June," says Goldstein.

A buffer must also be included, added Müller.

"Anything else is unrealistic."

Construction site on Egerlandstraße is winterized

The street lamps are currently being installed.

Then a winter backup should be set up.

"It's not our favorite solution, but there's no other choice," Goldstein said.

Winter security means that the construction site in front of the residential and commercial building BGZ2, which the building cooperative Geretsried (BG) is building, is surrounded by site fences over a large area.

There is a footpath in front of the BGZ1 building and the Sparkasse.

Winter security also means that curbs and hollows are wedged in so that nothing breaks, added the city planning officer.

The BG will take over part of the prescribed construction site inspection.

Overall, the administration expects additional costs of 30,000 euros due to the security measures.

The city plans to remodel the facility in early March.

Because: "On March 9th, the large shops including the underground car park will open," said Goldstein on behalf of the BG.

This means that access to the new branches of Aldi and Rossmann in BGZ2 should be possible from March 6th.

According to Goldstein, it is not possible to open the area for cars as well, "if we apply the finish from March 20th".

In order for the Egerlandstraße to be used from this point in time, the city would like to commission the Geretsrieder Initiative Platform (GIP) to prepare flanking campaigns and to beautify the entrance, announced Müller.

City bus: New route from August

According to the head of the town hall, the traffic changes in the center decided by the city council will only apply when Egerlandstrasse is open to traffic.

As reported, Karl-Lederer-Platz will become a pedestrian zone, Egerlandstrasse will become a 20 km/h zone and the streets bordering the center will become a 30 km/h zone.

Motorists coming from Fasanenweg are only allowed to turn right into Egerlandstraße.

The city bus will be driving its new route from August 1st, according to Müller.

It will then connect to the Sudetenstraße and pass through the Egerlandstraße.

160 signs and 150 bollards

The delivery times are long, so the administration has to get the orders for the Egerlandstraße ready.

In order to draw the attention of drivers to the traffic regulations that have been passed when they open (Zone 20 in Egerlandstraße, short-term parking and pedestrian zone on Karl-Lederer-Platz), 160 signs including masts are needed, City Planning Councilor Rainer Goldstein calculated before the Building and Environment Committee.

He estimates the cost at 25,000 euros.

The board had no objection to this.

The 150 bollards, which the administration suggested should also be ordered, sparked such a discussion that Mayor Michael Müller postponed the decision.

In order to keep the area of the redesigned Egerlandstraße traffic-free, bollards would be required at a distance of 1.8 meters, i.e. 135 bollards.

15 bollards should be bought as a reserve.

Estimated cost: 55,000 euros.

"We don't want to experience wild parking like at Karl-Lederer-Platz again," warned Goldstein.

The parking ban could not be implemented there without bollards.

"If we don't create clear rules, we will also have Wild West on Egerlandstraße," warned City Hall boss Michael Müller.

However, the majority of the committee did not like the solution.

The idea of 150 additional bollards is "in shock",

said Heidi Dodenhöft (FW).

Patrik Kohlert (Geretsrieder Liste) described them as "incredibly ugly", and Karin Schmid (CSU) jokingly called them "drunk matches".
