The occupied Syrian Golan - SANA
Forty-one years since the false decision of the Israeli occupation entity to annex the occupied Syrian Golan, and our people affirm every day their adherence to their land and their Syrian Arab identity, their steadfastness in the face of the occupation and its arbitrary practices, and their rejection of its decisions and procedures until the liberation of the entire Golan and its return to the homeland.
The decision issued by the occupation on this day in 1981 is inseparable from its continuous attacks against the Golan and its people that began since its occupation in 1967, represented by the escalation of settlements, the forced displacement of the people, the bulldozing of villages and towns, and the establishment of settlements on their ruins.
The decision met with widespread international rejection, as the UN Security Council issued Resolution No. 497 on December 17, which confirms the identity of the Syrian Arab Golan and that the occupation decision is null and has no legal effect, but this decision is still ink on paper as a result of the occupation’s refusal to implement it, benefiting from the support of the West Foremost among them is the United States and securing protection for him in the Security Council.
Despite the criminality of the occupation, our people in the Golan faced its repressive practices and its false decision to remain steadfast on their land, stressing their adherence to the national document they issued on March 25, 1981, and affirmed that the occupied Golan is an integral part of Syria, and that the Syrian Arab nationality is an attribute inherent to its people that does not disappear and is transmitted from the fathers. To the sons, and that their land is sacred property, and whoever begged himself to sell, concede, or give up an inch of it to the Israeli occupier is committing a major crime against his homeland and an unforgivable national betrayal.
On the 14th of February 1982, our people in the Golan announced a comprehensive strike that lasted for six months, which led to complete paralysis in the villages and towns of the occupied Golan, in addition to the emergence of demonstrations throughout the Golan in rejection of the racist colonial decision. Water and electricity were prevented from reaching the people of the occupied villages and imposed a siege that lasted for 40 days. Despite all these arbitrary practices, the determination of our people in the occupied Golan remained unyielding in resisting the occupier, affirming their refusal to submit to the occupation and its measures.
Today, the people of the Golan are renewing their attachment to their land and their rejection of the Judaization plans of the occupation, the most recent of which was the establishment of wind turbines on thousands of dunums of their lands in Majdal Shams, Ain Qinya, Baqatha and Masada, as well as the announcement of a plan to establish 12,000 new settlement units to double the number of settlers in the Golan and change the demographic situation in it, affirming their adherence to all a speck of it.
In a statement to SANA reporter in the Golan, Sheikh Jad al-Karim Nasser said: “The word of the people of the Golan was stronger than the decision of the occupation, as the Golan is not included with the stroke of a pen.. The Golan is the history of a people who sacrificed hundreds of martyrs against the occupation, including Ottoman, French, and Israeli, and with the blood of its martyrs, the identity of the Golan is written, which its children confirmed is It will only be a Syrian Arab.”
For his part, the liberated prisoner Fouad Al-Shaer indicated that the occupation's plans against our people in the occupied Golan have not stopped since its occupation, from the attempt to "impose identity" to the so-called "local council elections" to the establishment of wind turbines aimed at displacing the people from their land and homes and eliminating agriculture that It is the mainstay of the economy of the Golan Heights and the symbol of the presence of its people on their land, stressing that the people will continue to confront these practices and plans with all their might until they are thwarted and overthrown.
The dean of the liberated Syrian prisoners, Sidqi al-Maqt, stressed that the occupier who is trying to Judaize the Golan will not succeed, and all his attempts will fail, as the previous ones failed, pointing out that the people of the Golan are united and steadfast in the face of the occupation, and the long years of occupation have proven that they are one hand in confronting its plans, and the squares of the villages of the Golan are witness to that.
In turn, Hassan Fakhreddine pointed out that despite the passage of 55 years since the occupation of the Golan Heights, the people's determination to confront its plans is increasing day after day, and today they are more confident that its liberation is near thanks to Syria's victory over the plot and terrorist war and its steadfastness in the face of the West's projects against it.
Fakhr El-Din said: “We salute the victorious Syria under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, our heroic army, and our steadfast people in the face of Western conspiracies.
Syria constantly reaffirms that the occupied Golan is an integral part of its territory and that it is working to return every atom of its soil by all available means, considering it an eternal right that does not expire by statute of limitations. June 4, 1967 and the need to implement the relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost of which is Resolution 497 and its most recent resolutions in this regard issued on the 30th of last month and the 12th of this month.
