The costs for the most prominent project in the market town of Au, the redesign of Unterer and Oberer Hauptstrasse, have risen again.

The redesign of the lower and upper main street in the market town of Au is taking concrete shape.

Also in terms of costs.

They are currently rising to 9.5 million euros.

Au/Hallertau

– It is currently the most prominent project in the market town.

The redevelopment of the town center has the highest priority.

This was also shown again in the year-end meeting of the market council.

Details were debated and calculations were made up until the last minute.

However, there was not much to shake about the additional costs for construction phase 2, which also includes the market square and the town hall.

565,000 euros will probably end up accounting for it.

Which means that construction phase 2 costs almost 3.4 million euros and is therefore almost 400,000 euros more expensive than construction phase 1, which has already been completed.

According to a calculation by the TerraNova planning office, a further 3.1 million euros are to be expected for construction phase 3.

Choices on drinking fountains and umbrellas

The originally forecast total costs of six million euros were no longer mentioned in the meeting on Tuesday, one step further.

The debate revolved around the town centre.

In other words, the design of the market square and the surrounding of the town hall.

It was disputed, for example, how many sunshades there should be on the market square or which type of drinking fountain one would like to choose.

There wasn't much wiggle room.

Planner Martin Wich explained that everything had already been agreed with the urban development agency.

Changes would therefore possibly result in the items in question falling out of funding.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The lighting of the market square also gave rise to discussion.

One of the arguments put forward was that one could possibly save the money for three additional “mast lights”.

Proponents countered that more light couldn't hurt at night-time events.

Almost 18,000 euros were estimated for the three additional lanterns.

Said fountain, which is now planned in granite and not in stainless steel, costs 8300 euros.

The largest items included the market garden at a good 150,000 euros and a pavement made of granite stones for almost 140,000 euros.

A path has been added that leads around the town hall and should ensure access from all sides.

All in all, the result was that the cost increase for the second construction phase was not 480,000 but around 600,000 euros,

as it was called.

Nevertheless, the supplementary package was accepted – with one dissenting vote.

It should not be neglected that you can count on a subsidy of 60 percent.

As the engineer Yvonne Kaindl, who is responsible for project management in the town hall, explained when asked, the additional costs are “not just a simple increase in construction costs”.

Much “was taken in completely new”.
