A fourth child, aged six, died after falling with three others on Sunday into a frozen lake near Birmingham, central England, police said on Wednesday (December 14th).
The four boys, aged six, eight, ten and eleven, had been rescued from cardiac arrest after falling into this lake in Solihull, and West Midlands Police had already announced the death of three of them on Monday.

It is with deep sadness that we have to announce this afternoon that the six-year-old child who was hospitalized has lost his fight for life
,” she said in a statement.

,” she added.
Cold snap in the UK
Witnesses had reported seeing the children playing on the frozen lake, when the ice broke, causing them to fall into the water.
One of the four boys fell while trying to save the others.
The crash came as the UK is experiencing a particularly intense cold spell, with temperatures dropping to -17 degrees Celsius in central Scotland.
