First a fatal accident, then wrong products: The replacement of the windows in the gymnasium in Oberschleißheim is ill-fated.

The construction work is now interrupted, the hall open.

Oberschleißheim – The gym next to the indoor pool in Oberschleißheim is to get new windows.

But the exchange failed for the second time.

If it was a fatal accident in the summer of 2021 that stopped the construction work, it is now a lack of material and staff.

After complaints from the main user, TSV Schleissheim, the hall is now open again.

With 1,400 members in nine departments, the TSV is the largest sports club in the community.

Most athletes - basketball and handball players, track and field athletes or gymnasts - rely on the gym as a training facility.

The sports facility was not only closed from October 5th to 30th, as announced by the municipality, to exchange the old wooden windows.

Towering scaffolding and, above all, the new plastic windows blocked the hall until December 10th.

The athletes have only been able to train again since Monday of this week.

"It's really a very difficult construction site."

Renate Nagel, Chairwoman of TSV Schleissheim since 2012, not only gave a detailed account of the unsuccessful attempts to install the new windows, but also of the possible consequences: "Meanwhile, several parents have contacted me, especially from gymnasts and athletes, who threatened to take their Deregistering children if they are supposed to pay contributions but there is no hall available.” After two years of a pandemic with numerous members who have emigrated, it would be a hard blow if further contributions were missing.

The municipal council decided in November 2021 to refurbish the 35-year-old sports hall for around 120,000 euros. In spring 2022 everything was ready for the window replacement.

But the truck with the new windows crashed on the freeway.

Not only were all the windows destroyed, the driver even died.

"Unfortunately, even before the Ukraine war, there were very long delivery times for energy-intensive products, including the special sports hall plastic windows with hardened glass," explains Christine Kmoch, head of the building authority.

After all, basketball, handball and volleyball are played in the hall, "we can't install normal windows there".

The community struggled to get the second shipment for the upcoming school holidays, but didn't have that many options.

The windows in the cabin corridor have been replaced, and Arben Ligataj has already plastered and painted the walls.

"We have urgently asked the community not to close the hall so late, because the seasons start in September," says TSV chairman Nagel.

"Unfortunately that didn't work out and so, for example, the table tennis and handball teams all had to swap their first home games with their opponents." In principle, one has an "excellent relationship" with the community, no department has to pay fees for use, electricity or water .

"But the fact that no one could train for almost ten weeks was not okay."

The windows should now be replaced from October 5th, and everything should be ready by the end of October.

"Unfortunately, the company we commissioned didn't supply all the windows, some of them even the wrong ones that didn't fit, and they also didn't have enough staff," says Building Authority Manager Kmoch.

"It's really a very difficult construction site."

At the end of October almost no window had been replaced, at the end of November only the two large ones on the respective front sides and the small ones in the cabin aisle.

Then the community burst out: they asked the company to clear the hall.

The company complied with this until December 10th.

Now the windows are temporarily stored in a shed.

"Now we have to see how and when we can get the right windows and when we can install them," says Kmoch.

At TSV Schleissheim we are very happy at first
