The Tegernsee-Bahn has to extend its construction work between Schaftlach and Tegernsee.

the route remains closed.

It is still unclear whether rail replacement services will actually continue to be available.

Gmund/Schaftlach – The Tegernsee-Bahn actually wanted to finish construction work between Tegernsee and Schaftlach by December 14th.

This was associated with rail replacement services using buses.

But the weather of the past few days put a spoke in the wheel.

The closure will probably have to be extended up to and including Monday, December 19.

Railway line further blocked: construction work was not feasible due to the cold

"Because of the extreme minus temperatures, tamping work, i.e. bringing in the track ballast, could not be carried out," says Michael Bourjau, Managing Director of the Tegernsee-Bahn-Gesellschaft (TBG) when asked.

The work is not feasible at below minus three degrees.

The extension thus has further effects on the train connections of the Bavarian Regiobahn (BRB) in the Oberland network.

As reported by the BRB, all trains on the route between Schaftlach and Tegernsee are still canceled in both directions.

It is said that work is being done to continue to set up a rail replacement service with buses in this section of the route.

As of midday on Wednesday (December 14), there had not yet been a binding commitment.

Secondary school students who get on and off at the Finsterwald train stop are also affected by the route closure.
