motion pictures

Avatar: The Way of the Water

13 years after stunning the world with the film that became the most successful in history (and with 3D and phenomenal effects, which surpass themselves), James Cameron returns to the world he created in Pandora, and the correspondingly huge expectations.

The new film, whose production budget stands at 400-350 million dollars (the most expensive ever), follows the family that Jake and Neytiri started and their struggle to stay together against the backdrop of past characters who want to separate them.

The stars of the previous film, Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver are back again this time, alongside new stars such as Kate Winslet and Edie Falco.

in the cinemas

Bardo: a true record of a handful of truths

Five-time Academy Award-winning Mexican screenwriter-director Alejandro González Iñárritu ("The Reborn Man," "Birdman") returns with his first film in seven years, following Silverio, a journalist who returns to his native Mexico while in the midst of his midlife crisis.

He embarks on a journey that causes him to experience hallucinations, bewilderment and wonder - all at the same time.

As usual, the excellent Iñárritu created a film with a cinematic language unique to him, which raises quite a few questions about the life that each of us experiences, and the result is, of course, intriguing and unusual.

Friday, Netflix

Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival

More than 40 films from 20 countries, dealing with Jewish life through the lens of cinema from different perspectives, will be screened during the festival, which this year will be its 24th edition.

In addition to the various films, which range from Israeli and international cinema to short films and documentaries, there will also be lectures by academics, film critics and senior researchers of Jewish history and culture, who will present short introductions to the various films and participate in discussions.

"Days of Tom", the new and partially autobiographical film by James Gray ("Ed Astra") starring Oscar winners Anne Hathaway and Anthony Hopkins, will open the festival.

music

Muki - strong with the heart and close with the body

12 songs are included in Mookie's new album, which comes more than five years after his previous album.

If in the past he was known as one of the most polished rappers in Israel, now Mookie is giving his all to the middle-of-the-road music that brought him into every home in Israel in the previous decade - and combines hip hop, soul, pop, rock and even a little Mediterranean in his songs.

He has already specialized in this mix, and it is no wonder that he collaborates with names like Berry Sakharof and Ebri Lider (who appeal to a more mature audience), alongside Aden Hasson, Jimbo J, Matan Dror and Stav Begar (who appeal to the younger audience).

The result is well made and enjoyable, and is another side of Mookie's path to becoming a nationwide 70's native Shlomo.

Siza - SOS

2022 is coming to an end in just a moment, the summaries of the year have already been prepared, but that didn't stop Siza from turning the creator around - and releasing one of the best albums released this year.

If 2017's "Ctrl" featured an insanely talented R&B singer-songwriter whose future was particularly rosy, that future has arrived, and it's simply phenomenal.

The album's 23 songs, which span almost 68 minutes, have formed into an immersive and touching work, which manages to excite and be enjoyable and thought-provoking at the same time.

Phoebe Bridgers and Travis Scott are among the guests, who help elevate Siza to the throne waiting for a new queen to sit on it.

Izbo celebrates 20 years since the debut album

Two decades since the release of "Fun Makers", the first album (or the second, if you don't count the album they released in '94 that was not commercially distributed) of the psychedelic pop-rock band, the four members of Izbo return to celebrate the same album that brought about their great breakthrough into consciousness.

While they are working on new material (some of which will be played for the first time at the concert), they are opening what can be called a "comeback", and the longing for the unique sound that they have managed to develop for themselves will definitely make you want to welcome them with open arms.
