Since 2003, Kai Noll has been a part of "Unter Uns".
In the eighties, however, thanks to Dieter Bohlen, the series star almost wrote music history.
But the pop titan and today's DSDS boss lacked patience.
Hamburg – Dieter Bohlen (68) has already helped many a young, aspiring musician to a great career, including DSDS darling Pietro Lombardi (30) or pop star Ramon Roselly (29).
Decades ago, the pop titan planned to bring out the then relatively unknown Kai Noll (58) – now known as Rufus Sturm from “Unter Uns”.
But the project failed.
"Unter Uns" star shortly before the big hit – but DSDS icon Dieter Bohlen lost patience
Kai Noll has turned his passion into a profession: the actor has been in front of the camera for "Unter uns" since 2003, with a short break.
But the series star is versatile and pursues a music career in addition to television.
Even as a teenager, the 58-year-old earned something extra as a street musician – and finally attracted the attention of none other than pop titan Dieter Bohlen, who recently announced that he wanted to retire after DSDS.
Kai Noll has been playing in "Unter Uns" since 2003, but the actor almost hit a musical hit in the 1980s: Dieter Bohlen wanted the series star to perform his modern-talking hit "You're My Heart, You're My Soul." ’ in German, but then lost patience (photomontage) © Marc John/Sven Simon/Imago
The cult juror had offered him a collaboration, Kai Noll recently revealed at

: "After Modern Talking had gone through the roof at the time, Dieter Bohlen wanted me to do the German version of the mega hit 'You're My Heart' You're My Soul' singe.
So he invited me to his studio at the time." But things didn't go as planned:
"I almost sang for my life there, but I could tell by Dieter's look that he wasn't satisfied, even though I really gave my all.
After a few tries, he lost patience and kicked me out of the studio.”
Dieter Bohlen as producer - he worked with the big superstars:
Dieter Bohlen not only wrote music history as an interpreter with Modern Talking, but also worked as a producer with big names in the industry: The legendary pop titan wrote and produced hits for Nino de Angelo (58), Roy Black († 48), Marianne Rosenberg ( 67) or Andrea Berg (56).
DSDS candidates, in whom the 68-year-old recognized a certain potential, also benefited from his musical expertise, including Beatrice Egli (34), Mehrzad Marashi (42), Luca Hänni (28) and Alexander Klaws (39).
Instead of "Unter Uns" favorite Kai Noll: Dieter Bohlen had Mary Roos sing the modern-talking hit
Dieter Bohlen then had pop star Mary Roos (73) sing the German "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" version under the title "I'm strong, only with you".
Behind the scenes of a TV show, Kai Noll met the pop titan again in the nineties, tried his luck a second time and presented him with a song.
"However, he did not report it anymore," said the "Unter Uns" star.
It is unlikely that he will get another chance: After his farewell tour in 2023 with Pietro Lombardi, Dieter Bohlen would like to retire.

But even without the 68-year-old, the actor has gained a foothold in the music scene and is currently playing in the rock band Kraut Pleaser with his soap colleague Diego Seyfarth (38).
The pop titan itself was recently criticized: Dieter Bohlen outraged with a statement about the Ukraine war.
