Due to problems with the tread, Continental has started an exchange program.

More than 7,000 tires are affected worldwide.

Safety plays an important role in road traffic.

Manufacturers have therefore developed numerous driving assistants and other safety measures over the years.

But it still depends on the tires.

If the profile is too low or the tires have too little air pressure or are not in good shape, it becomes dangerous.

To avoid this, tire manufacturers keep checking the quality of their products.

In the case of Continental, this has now led to a global recall of thousands of tires.

The reason for the recall of the 7,103 tires as part of a voluntary exchange program: "The affected tires could suddenly lose air or have a belt edge separation, which can lead to a partial or complete loss of the tread".

According to Continental, various product lines are affected by the replacement campaign, as also reported by the HNA.

Specifically, these are the AllSeasonContact (255/45R20 105W XL FR) all-season tires and the EcoContact 6 MO summer tires (205/55 R17 91W).

The exchange program is offered in Germany, Italy, Austria, Spain, France and Switzerland.

In this country, Continental is recalling 861 tires.

Drivers can tell whether their own tires are affected by the recall from the DOT and tire shape number.

The DOT number can be found on the sidewalls of the tires.

The four numbers at the end indicate the production period (week/year).

Continental is recalling thousands of tires: danger should be ruled out

As the company announced, the exchange was proactively initiated "in order to rule out possible hazards for vehicle drivers and other road users".

However, there have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the affected tires.

In addition, Continental has already informed “the relevant national authorities” and is in close contact with dealers and customers.

The exchange of the affected tires is of course free of charge for the customers.

In addition to Continental, Nexen is also recalling numerous Winguard Sport and Snow'G3 winter tires because the tread there can also become detached.
