He had a "big announcement" and "America needs a superhero," Donald Trump wrote on Wednesday on the Truth Social platform he co-founded.
Now it's clear what the ex-US President obviously meant: a collection of digital Trump trading cards for fans.
For $99 each, followers can purchase glorified digital drawings by the 76-year-old: Trump in a superhero costume, Trump on a white horse and US flag, Trump riding a blue and red elephant, in front of a virtual rain of gold bars, in the Space, as a sheriff or while playing golf.
The associated promotional video begins with drumbeats, accompanied by an animated Trump montage.
The ex-president has torn his shirt under his jacket, revealing a red superhero costume.
A red "T" on a white circle is emblazoned on his chest, and a flash of lightning shoots noisily from his "laser eyes."

Then the real Trump appears.
He starts his speech with a hymn of praise: “Hello everyone, this is Donald Trump speaking.
Hopefully your favorite president ever - better than Lincoln, better than Washington." The trading cards featured "incredible artwork" that reflected his life and career, he said.
In addition, anyone who buys tickets can win "great prizes," including a dinner with Trump himself: "I don't know if that's a great prize, but it's what we have," Trump said.
There are numerous lure offers on the site: Anyone who buys 45 digital tickets (i.e. spends $4455) is guaranteed a seat at a gala dinner with Trump, they say.
In the social networks, the “big announcement” apparently leaves some people at a loss.
Many had therefore expected an announcement in the political field.
On YouTube, a user wrote that all the pictures would definitely become memes – “he has to blame himself for that”.
On Twitter, users also wondered whether it was a deep fake, i.e. the video was fake.
So far, however, there are no signs of this.
In Trump's political life, the ex-president continues to deny his 2020 defeat by Joe Biden.
Trump wants to run for the White House again in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
In polls, however, he is currently far behind his biggest internal Republican competitor, Ron DeSantis.
