The European Union has officially accepted the Balkan country Bosnia-Herzegovina as a candidate for accession.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the other heads of state and government of the EU states made a corresponding decision at a summit meeting in Brussels, as confirmed by an EU official and several diplomats.
