Europa-Park is building a huge solar park on the parking lot: the largest photovoltaic roof in Germany

From 2024, Europa-Park is to be completely supplied with solar energy in the summer season.
In Kippenheim near Lahr, a 20-hectare photovoltaic system is being built to cover a parking lot.
Rust/Kippenheim - In times of the energy crisis, even the largest amusement park in Germany is not spared from the rapidly increasing electricity costs.
In order to be prepared for the future, Europa-Park is investing 30 million euros in its own power supply.
By 2024, a 20-hectare photovoltaic system will be built in Kippenheim near Lahr, which will produce around 25 gigawatt hours of electricity from renewable energies, as BW24 reports.
The system will be built on a car park belonging to the automobile logistics company Mosolf, which is involved in the project.
"It was District Administrator Frank Scherer's idea to bring our two companies together," says Europa-Park owner Roland Mack.
"The Mosolf company, which also has an important location in Kippenheim in the Ortenau district,
According to Mack, the joint project is "a perfect synergy between two family companies in the Ortenau".
Mosolf owner Jörg Mosolf is a far-sighted entrepreneur who has already gained experience with high-performance photovoltaic systems.
"Europa-Park takes a significant part of the energy generated and can supply itself with renewable electricity in the long term, largely independently of other energy sources, especially in the high season summer months." For the park manager, the project is "an important step in the direction of regenerative energy production".
With a size of around 30 football pitches, the system in Kippenheim will be by far the largest photovoltaic roof system in Germany.
Europa-Park: 50,000 photovoltaic modules cover 8,500 parking spaces
Europa-Park already operates photovoltaic systems, hydroelectric power plants and combined heat and power plants.
However, the new plant will open up a whole new dimension in terms of alternative energy production.

, around 50,000 photovoltaic modules will cover a total of 8,500 parking spaces.
This means that around a quarter of the Mosolf storage areas will be covered.
Europa-Park draws around half of the electricity generated.

"The expansion of the photovoltaic car park roofs is an important building block in the context of energy security and the ability to plan energy costs," says Jörg Mosolf.
"We bring in our experience from the implementation of similar projects in Rackwitz, Saxony, and in France." In addition to the availability of sustainably generated energy, there is additional added value for Mosolf customers: "The vehicles are protected from the effects of the weather and extreme weather events. Renewable energies: Mosolf is looking for other buyers for the electricity generated
In addition to Europa-Park, the Mosolf company is now looking for other buyers for the regeneratively generated electricity.
"In the coming weeks we are planning further talks with interested large electricity consumers, especially here in the region," says Mosolf.
Then they will talk about further long-term electricity purchase agreements to enable even more companies to participate in the energy transition.
