Extension and refurbishment of the middle school: the canteen should be on the roof

The expansion and renovation of the middle school is planned.
Now it is clear where the new canteen is to be built.
And an important hurdle has been cleared.
Geretsried – A year ago, the city council decided that the Karl Lederer school building, in which part of the middle school is housed, will be needed in the future for the primary school, an additional day-care center and a social facility.
The determination was important in order to be able to combine the middle school in the school building on Adalbert-Stifter-Strasse and design it for five classes per year.
City hall employee Janine Kleiber brought the good news to the building and environmental committee: "The government of Upper Bavaria has approved the five-part system.
That's good news."

With this certainty, the city of Geretsried can now plan further.
As reported, the Stifter school building is to be expanded with a new building.
The inventory must then be renovated.
So far, the middle school students use the canteen of the high school.
"However, the district can only give approval for one year," says Kleiber.
That is why the main and finance committee spoke out in April in favor of creating a separate canteen.
The commissioned office has now developed three variants for this.
The building and environmental committee decided to provide the schoolchildren with lunch on the top floor in the future.
The planned new building is to be increased for this purpose.
The statics would have to be adjusted accordingly in the planning.
According to Kleiber, the disadvantage of this solution is that the food has to be delivered via an elevator.
And the stairwell would have to be opened for external users.
Otherwise, however, most spoke for this variant.
"It's also the one preferred by the architects," says the building official.
The canteen should be designed for 200 students in a two-shift system
Alternatively, an extension to the new building would have been conceivable.
However, a completely separate infrastructure would have been needed for the satellite.
A third option would be to convert some classrooms on the ground floor into a canteen.
The classrooms would then have moved to the top floor.
“In the school building there would be disturbances from noises and smells,” Kleiber pointed out.
The new canteen at the middle school is to be designed for 200 adolescents who come to eat in two shifts.
100 people can be seated in the dining room at once.
A kitchen for cooking is not provided.
The food should be delivered and prepared.
This system is called “Cook & Hold”.
The administration has planned 1.4 million euros in planning costs for the middle school project in the budget for 2022/23.
A cost estimate for the canteen is now to be made.
