At the end of 2019, the city of Geretsried converted the meadow in front of the Petruskirche into a parking lot.
You can still park there until April 30th.
Geretsried – The green had to give way to asphalt and grass pavers.
The city had leased the area from the Protestant parish in order to be able to provide alternative parking spaces on Egerlandstraße during the construction phase.
Due to the construction work on Egerlandstraße, parking spaces were no longer available.
Work on the Egerlandstraße not yet completed
Actually, the contract would have expired in the fall.
"We have extended it until April 30, 2023," said Ute Raach, manager in the town hall, at the most recent meeting of the main and finance committee of the city council.
The decision was made in a non-public session.
Mayor Michael Müller added that the reason for the lease extension was that the work on Egerlandstraße had not yet been completed.
As reported, the surface is currently being restored.
The road is still closed.
The public underground car park, which the building cooperative is building as part of their new residential and commercial building BGZ2, is not yet usable.
"The opening date is up to the client," said the head of the town hall.
It is important for the city that “there are no gaps when parking”.
Drivers can still use the replacement parking spaces at the Petruskirche until the end of April.
