Joanna Brosig from Gilching urgently asks for food donations for animals in the Ukraine.

At the beginning of the year she wants to go to the Polish border.

Gilching

– Since the outbreak of the Ukraine war, Joanna Brosig from Gilching has been constantly trying to alleviate the unspeakable suffering that affects not only people but also animals.

The cold season in particular causes additional problems in areas where there is neither heating nor water.

"It's getting harder and harder to help.

We used to be able to take abandoned animals with us.

But our animal shelters are now full.

That's why I only mediate Ukrainian cats and dogs if someone is definitely looking for an animal and also offers a free place," explains the Polish-born cat.

Independent of animal rescue, Brosig has recently been working with Yannick Böge, who sent her a call for help: "Hello, Joanna.

It's cold and dark here.

Due to the warlike attacks, we rarely have electricity and this means that I am very limited here and can just about take care of my animals.

Due to the fact that the willingness to donate is also decreasing at the moment, I'm gradually running out of food.

Especially for the dogs.

I accept whatever donations I can get.

Except for leashes and collars, they aren't really needed.

What I get in excess, I pass on to five other private animal rights activists, who put all their heart and soul into sheltering the animals.

Everything is missing here and we are grateful for any help.

It doesn't matter whether it's for our dogs or cats, whether it's dry or wet food."

24-year-old Böge from Germany has set up an animal shelter near the Ukrainian-Polish border to take in stray dogs and cats.

"There are currently 30 dogs and 12 cats." The reason for getting involved in animal welfare in Ukraine was Koda, a stray husky, who ran into him at the end of April.

He adopted him, quit his job as an architect and model maker and has been dedicated to animal welfare ever since.

To ensure that everything is in order, he also founded the “Kodas Mission” foundation, which is now legally recognised.

Joanna Brosig is now appealing to all the people who have already helped her to donate food and medicine for the animals again.

“By the beginning of next year at the latest, I will be going to the Ukraine to hand over the donated feed and medicine to Yannick.

Hopefully I'll have a truck full by then so that the trip is worthwhile."

Donations in kind can be made to Joanna Brosig in Gilching, Brucker-Steig-Weg 2.
