According to the Federal Ministry of Economics, thanks to a commitment from Poland, capacity utilization of the oil refinery in Schwedt, Brandenburg, will remain at over 70 percent beyond the turn of the year.
That said State Secretary Michael Kellner on Thursday in the Bundestag.
From January no more Russian oil is to be imported because of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.
Berlin - Since the beginning of December, an EU decision has allowed Russian crude oil to be imported into the Union only in exceptional cases.
"The security of supply can be guaranteed by deliveries via Rostock, Poland and Kazakhstan," said Kellner.
He was in Warsaw for talks last week.
"As a result, we now have the promise of the Polish side to deliver sufficient oil quantities from January, which will enable the PCK to have a comfortable utilization of around 70 percent." The contracts with Kachstan also increased utilization.
Finally, there are also deliveries via the Rostock-Schwedt pipeline.
The ships to fully utilize this line should arrive in Rostock from January.
"The goal is to further increase the utilization of over 70 percent in January over the course of the year when the new sources of supply have settled in in the coming year," said the Green politician.
Saying goodbye to Russian oil is not only necessary in view of the Ukraine war, but also to ensure security of supply in the long term.
